Glycolic acid is the most common alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). It stimulates skin, collagen and elastin renewal.
In addition to working to reduce blemishes and hyperpigmentation, it also reduces fine lines, wrinkles, acne, scars and other signs of aging. Glycolic Acid Radiance Solution prevents dead cells from clumping together, increasing cell turnover.

Glycolic acid is the most commonly used form of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), a group of natural acids derived from certain plants and fruits. With an exfoliating action, glycolic acid is used to reduce the stratum corneum barrier and increase the penetration of other topical agents, while stimulating skin regrowth and collagen. Once applied, glycolic acid reacts with the top layer of the epidermis, weakening the lipid-binding properties that hold dead cells together. In addition, it also stimulates glycoaminoglycans as well as hyaluronic acid. The result is a much smoother and younger looking skin surface.

Another advantage of glycolic acid is its ability to deposit moisturizing agents within the surface of freshly exfoliated skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots and sun damage. When mixed with poly-vitamins, glycolic acid is also beneficial in reducing stretch marks. AHAs also help to decongest pores, thus decreasing the tendency to develop acne.

A recent study indicates an additional inhibitory effect of glycolic acid on melanin synthesis through thyrokinase activity in melanocytes, making it effective in the treatment of hyperpigmentation.
