Glycolic acid is the most common alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). It stimulates skin renewal, collagen, and elastin. In addition to reducing spots and hyperpigmentation, it also reduces fine lines, wrinkles, acne, scars, and other signs of aging. The Radiant Solution of glycolic acid prevents dead cells from clumping together, increasing cell renewal.

Glycolic acid is the most commonly used form of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), a group of natural acids derived from certain plants and fruits. With an exfoliating action, glycolic acid is used to reduce the barrier of the stratum corneum and increase the penetration of other topical agents, while stimulating new skin growth and collagen. Once applied, glycolic acid reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis, weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold dead cells together. Additionally, it also stimulates glycosaminoglycans as well as hyaluronic acid. The result is a much smoother skin surface with a younger appearance.

Another advantage of glycolic acid is its ability to deposit moisturizing agents within the newly exfoliated skin surface, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, and sun damage. When mixed with polyvitamins, glycolic acid is also beneficial for reducing stretch marks. AHAs also help to decongest pores, thus decreasing the tendency to develop acne.
