This is a highly effective antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals – unstable molecules that prematurely age the skin due to pollution, tobacco, and sun exposure.

It inhibits melanin, stimulates the growth of the hydrolipidic film, and increases collagen synthesis, an important skin protein that strengthens structural support and skin elasticity. The Revitalizing & Antioxidant Vitamin C Solution is primarily used to treat and prevent photoaging, skin irregularities, and wrinkles.

Ascorbic acid is one of the main water-soluble, non-enzymatic antioxidants. Vitamin C is required for collagen synthesis, which is a key structural component of blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, and bones.

It plays a fundamental role in dermal regeneration by stimulating collagen synthesis from skin fibroblasts. It does this by regulating collagen genes in two ways: by increasing the transcription rate and by stabilizing the pro-collagen messenger RNA. All of these actions result in genetically signaled collagen synthesis.

Another mechanism activated by vitamin C is the initiation of lipid peroxidation, leading to an increase in a byproduct, malondialdehyde, that stimulates collagen gene expression.

Additionally, ascorbic acid is necessary for the formation of lysyl hydroxylase, an essential enzyme for cross-linking collagen molecules, which provides strength to the tissues.

The topical use of ascorbic acid is employed in the treatment and prevention of photoaging. UV exposure can reduce the skin’s ascorbic acid deposits by up to two-thirds.

Vitamin C is also required for the synthesis of carnitine, a small molecule essential for transporting fat to cellular organelles called mitochondria, where it is converted into energy.
