This is a highly effective antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals - the unstable molecules that age the skin as a result of pollution, smoking and sun exposure.

It inhibits melanin, stimulates the growth of the hydrolipidic film and increases the synthesis of collagen, an important skin protein that strengthens the skin's structural support and elasticity. Vitamin C Revitalizing & Antioxidant Solution is primarily used to treat and prevent photoaging, skin irregularities and wrinkles.

Ascorbic acid is one of the major non-enzymatic water-soluble antioxidants. Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen, an important structural component of blood vessels, tendons, ligaments and bones.

It plays a key role in dermal construction by stimulating the synthesis of collagen from skin fibroblasts. It does this by activating the regulation of collagen genes in two ways: on the one hand, it increases the transcription rate; on the other, it stabilizes RNA, the pro-collagen messenger. Thus, it establishes a genetically signaled collagen synthesis.

Another mechanism activated by vitamin C in this regard is the initiation of lipid peroxidation, which leads to the increase of a by-product, malondialdehyde, which stimulates the expression of the collagen gene.

In addition, ascorbic acid is necessary to form lysylhydroxylase, an enzyme essential in the cross-linking of one collagen molecule to another, which provides tissue strength.

The topical use of ascorbic acid is used in the treatment and prevention of photoaging. Exposure to UV light reduces skin deposits of ascorbic acid by up to two-thirds.

Vitamin C is also required for the synthesis of carnitine, a small molecule that is essential in the transport of fat to cell organelles called mitochondria, where it is converted into energy.
