HIFU

HIFU vs surgery
The HIFU system completely respects the superficial layers of the skin, epidermis, making it a non-invasive treatment with no recovery period. On the contrary, it is an alternative treatment technique to classic surgery.

Can HIFU replace a facelift?
The concentration in high intensity ultrasound, produces immediate tissue retraction, producing a tightening effect, which thanks to the natural stimulation of fibroblast allows to maintain for a long time the firming effect. It is an option of natural process of tissue regeneration for people who do not want to undergo surgery.

What are the differences between HIFU and lasers?
Lasers typically address issues in the superficial layers of the skin (e.g. fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation changes). HIFU addresses the deep layer of the skin and the fundamental layer addressed in cosmetic surgery that lifts and supports the skin. Therefore, the two technologies are quite complementary! The deeper laser resurfacing systems, on the other hand, are invasive technologies and are aggressive to the tissue, requiring a period of healing and convalescence.

Is HIFU safe?
Ultrasonic energy has been used for more than 50 years in different sectors, physiotherapy, surgery, and is evolving towards aesthetic and medical-aesthetic sectors. Its different modifications in power, wavelengths, etc. have made it possible. Even so, these are technologies contrasted in time and with a wide bibliography. HIFU is a totally safe method and technique.

How long does the ultrasound treatment last?
A complete facial treatment lasts between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. Once the session is over, the patient can go about his or her daily activities. The redness and any effects produced disappear within a few hours of the treatment.

Who is a good candidate for HIFU?
A good candidate for HIFU is a person whose skin looks "relaxed" to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. A lowering brow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for example, are often the first sign of skin aging. Generally, people in their 30s and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates. There are also younger people who want to maintain healthy tissue, as well as those seeking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.

What problem areas are targeted by HIFU?
Selecting the area according to the depth needed, as well as the optimal treatment transducer will be key during the session, thus avoiding unnecessary discomfort.

How long until I see results?
From the first session, the patient will notice the results. Initial tightening, improvement of tissue density, will be one of the first "symptoms" of the treatment. The collagen will have a re-structuring time of approximately 21 days, after which the amount of regenerated collagen will increase. The complete result is seen after 2-3 months, and with good expectations of long-term results, even after 6 months.

Will I need more than one treatment?
As a general rule, 2-3 treatment sessions will be performed, to be assessed by the professional.

Will I feel the ultrasound during the treatment?
At low powers, the sensation is a sudden increase in temperature, but perfectly bearable. At higher powers, at a medical-aesthetic level, it is recommended to work with higher energies and use of anesthetic. The number of sessions and tightening capacity will decrease.

What does it feel like?
Patients have reported that there may be some discomfort during treatment, but it is temporary and a positive sign that the collagen building process has begun.

Is HIFU painful?
Pain thresholds vary from patient to patient, there may be some discomfort while the ultrasound energy is being emitted.
Your physician will consult with you prior to your treatment to make your experience as pleasant as possible. Patients are usually happy and excited about the benefits to come!

Are there any side effects?
There may be slight redness for up to an hour or so after treatment, and a small percentage of clients who may have mild swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature. The sensation of a muscle-training pain is common, but is quickly relieved.
