GLAZ head cushion: the detail that determines whether the patient can relax
In the supine position, resting the head directly on the treatment table leaves the neck extended and places tension on the suboccipital muscles: the patient can tolerate it, but cannot fully relax. A flat cushion of the correct height neutralises this extension and allows the cervical muscles to release tension. In manual therapy, this is not simply about comfort; it is essential for effective treatment, as palpation is less accurate when the neck is tense.
GLAZ is a low-profile head cushion designed to provide support without excessive elevation. Cushions that are too high create the opposite problem — sustained cervical flexion — which can become equally uncomfortable during longer treatment sessions.

Professional treatment applications
Supine position. Maintains the natural cervical curve and relaxes the upper trapezius and suboccipital muscles.
Prone position. Protects the forehead and cheekbones when the treatment table does not have a face hole, or complements the face hole by distributing pressure evenly.
Side-lying position. Fills the space between the shoulder and ear, helping to prevent sustained lateral cervical flexion.
Massage and beauty treatments. Can be cleaned between patients without removing sheets or covers.
Hygiene between patients
The cover can be cleaned with a damp cloth, neutral detergent and a healthcare-grade surface disinfectant. This accessory has extensive contact with the patient’s skin — face, hair and neck — so it should be disinfected between treatment sessions or protected with couch roll. Avoid high concentrations of alcohol, as these can dry out the material and cause cracking over time.
Given its price, keeping two or three units in rotation is practical: one in use and another drying after cleaning.
Weelko accessories range
The GLAZ can be combined with the full-round PLUM bolster for elevating the knees or ankles, the SPONG half-round bolster for low-level support and the ACHIL step for easier access to the treatment table. Find them all under physiotherapy equipment and accessories.
