The Hapro Topaz 10/1 is a home full-body sunbed with 10 Maxlight tubes and a 400 W high-pressure facial tanner. You place it over your bed or sofa, it tans you from head to toe in a single session and, when you are done, the canopy folds onto the column and the unit stands upright taking up barely more than a narrow wardrobe. Built in Europe by Hapro, CE marked, with a safety timer and protective goggles included.

The 10 Maxlight tubes combine six 100 W lamps and four 80 W lamps. That split is deliberate: more power over the centre of the body, softer output at the ends, where skin is thinner and reddens sooner.
The Topaz 10/1 carries 10 full-body Maxlight tubes: six 100 W lamps plus four 80 W lamps. Hapro calculates the layout so that power concentrates where skin tolerates most and softens over the thinner areas, which means colour builds evenly from your shoulders down to your ankles. In practice that translates into fewer sessions to reach the tone you want and, above all, a tan with no bands or darker patches.
The face and neckline are the hardest areas to bring up to tone. That is why the Topaz adds a 400 W high-pressure facial lamp with its own reflector, independent from the body tubes. It provides the extra intensity the face needs to keep up with the rest of the body, and it shows especially from the third or fourth session onwards.
The SRS reflector system redirects towards your skin the light that would otherwise be lost inside the unit: every watt is used better and output stays more stable throughout the working life of the tubes. Add the adjustable height and the tilting canopy and you can always keep the right distance between lamps and body, whether you lie on the bed or on the sofa.
No travelling, no booking, no sharing a cabin. These are the three things Topaz owners mention most.

Understanding the process helps you plan sessions properly and avoid pushing the pace.
The Topaz 10/1 needs no special installation: plug it into a standard 230 V domestic socket and it is ready.
Guideline values for the Topaz 10/1. Always start with the shortest time and build up slowly.
| Skin type | First session | Regular session | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Type I — very fair skin that never tans | Not recommended | Not recommended | Must not use artificial tanning |
| Type II — fair skin, burns easily | 5–7 min | 10–12 min | 1–2 times a week |
| Type III — medium skin, tans gradually | 7–10 min | 15–18 min | 2 times a week |
| Type IV — olive skin, rarely burns | 10–12 min | 18–22 min | 2–3 times a week |
| Type V–VI — dark skin | 12–15 min | 20–25 min | 2–3 times a week |
Always leave a minimum of 48 hours between sessions. The timer limits each session to 30 minutes with automatic shut-off; never exceed the time shown in the exposure table supplied with the unit.
Skin type is a classification describing how your skin reacts to sun exposure. It is based on skin, hair and eye colour, and on how prone you are to burning or tanning. Knowing it helps you choose the safest and most effective tanning practices.
| Skin type | Characteristics | Reaction to the sun |
|---|---|---|
| Type I | Very fair skin, usually with freckles, red or light blond hair, light eyes | Burns easily and rarely tans |
| Type II | Fair skin, blond hair, light eyes | Usually burns, but can tan slightly |
| Type III | Intermediate skin, brown hair, darker eyes | Sometimes burns and tans gradually |
| Type IV | Olive skin, dark hair, dark eyes | Rarely burns, tans well |
| Type V | Dark skin, dark hair and eyes | Rarely burns, tans easily |
| Type VI | Very dark or black skin, dark hair and eyes | Never burns, tans very easily |
To work out your skin type, consider your most common reaction to prolonged sun exposure without protection. Check with a dermatologist if you are unsure or have a history of sun-related skin problems. Warning: people with skin type I must not use artificial tanning equipment.
What you need to know before deciding, with no small print.

A home sunbed is a purchase that lasts years. What matters is not only the price: it is having someone to call when the tubes need changing.
And if you cannot find your answer, message us on WhatsApp: a real person will reply.
The base measures roughly 87 × 65 cm and the folded unit is about 1.93 m tall. To use it you also need the bed or sofa the canopy sits over. When you finish, the canopy folds and only the base footprint remains, so a corner of the bedroom or a dressing room is enough.
No. The Topaz 10/1 runs on single-phase 230 V and draws around 1.42 kW, similar to a powerful hairdryer. It plugs into a normal domestic socket, although it should be a socket in good condition and not shared with other high-consumption appliances.
Most skin types start seeing colour from the second or third session, and the tone settles from the fourth or fifth. It depends on your skin type, on session length and on consistency: two or three sessions a week work better than several in a row.
Yes. It weighs 43.5 kg but rests on four castors set into a wide base, so you only need to tilt it slightly and push. For stairs, two people are advisable.
Maxlight tubes hold their output for several hundred hours of use. With normal home use of two or three sessions a week, that usually means several years. Sunmarket stocks the original spares and can fit them or guide you through it.
Yes. Tanning accelerators are designed to improve results in tanning units: they hydrate the skin and support melanin production, so colour appears sooner and lasts longer. Always use cosmetics made specifically for tanning units, never self-tanners or creams with sun protection.
It is not advisable to use sunscreen over your whole body during tanning sessions, since its job is to block UV rays and it would cancel out the tanning effect. However, you can apply sunscreen to specific areas that need extra protection, such as scars, marks or sensitive areas.
Yes. Although you should not cover your whole skin, it is worth protecting specific spots such as scars, recent tattoos, marks or particularly sensitive areas with a high-factor sunscreen.
We recommend using the tanner 2 to 3 times a week, leaving rest time between sessions so the skin is not overexposed to UV rays.
We recommend waiting at least 48 hours between sessions. It is also important to avoid using the tanning unit and being exposed to natural sunlight on the same day, to prevent UV overexposure.
Yes, protective goggles must always be worn during tanning sessions to prevent eye damage from UV radiation exposure.
Yes, it is important to remove contact lenses before a UVA session to avoid irritation or possible eye damage.
One advantage of indoor UVA tanning units is that they do not depend on weather conditions or external factors such as the ozone layer or fluctuations in solar radiation, which allows a controlled and consistent tanning experience. Even so, times, rest periods and eye protection must always be respected.
We recommend using specialist cosmetics that help hydrate the skin during tanning sessions. These products are designed to counteract moisture loss and improve the appearance of the skin, helping the tan last longer.
Avoid perfumes, colognes, creams with citrus, essential oils and products with retinol or exfoliating acids for at least 10 days before the session. Also avoid products with lemon, orange or bergamot, and certain photosensitising medications such as antibiotics (tetracyclines), NSAIDs (ibuprofen) or diuretics. Check with your doctor if you have any doubt about a medication you are taking.
If you are allergic to natural sunlight, you should not expose yourself to UVA rays, as the radiation is similar and may cause an adverse skin reaction.
White patches in areas such as the shoulder blades or buttocks can occur due to pressure on these areas while lying down, which reduces blood flow and the distribution of the tan. Alternating between horizontal and vertical tanning beds can help minimise this effect.
There are several types of home tanning units, including horizontal and vertical models. Horizontal units suit those who prefer to tan lying down, while vertical ones are ideal for those who prefer to stand or for smaller spaces. The choice depends on the space available at home and your personal tanning preferences.
Tell us how much space you have and what your skin type is, and we will tell you whether the Topaz 10/1 is the right unit or whether another model in the range suits you better.
