Taurine is the only known natural sulfonic acid. It is called sulfonic amino acid because it contains sulfur, but it does not belong to the group of 20 proteinogenic amino acids or generators of structural proteins. Taurine by Institute BCN is a product that acts on two levels: on the scalp and on the skin. Its effectiveness in reinforcing the hair mass and against hair loss is fully proven, as well as its antioxidant properties, which result in the revitalization of the skin due to the neutralization of the effects of free radicals. It is indicated to limit hair loss, as well as to revitalize especially tired, aged skins and those that have been exposed to pollutants, tobacco smoke and UV rays. The process of hair loss occurs at the level of the hair follicle, in response to chronic inflammation. This triggers fibrosis, a degenerative process that progressively decreases circulation and thus the probability that the hair bulb will defend itself against harmful substances or agents that could cause baldness, causing the follicle to miniaturize and fill with scar tissue. On the one hand, taurine inhibits the fibrosis of the hair follicle, thus preventing the hair from becoming thinner, weaker and brittle, ultimately stopping hair loss. On the other hand, it stimulates blood microcirculation, favoring the arrival of nutrients to the hair and facilitating the passage of sodium, potassium and magnesium ions to the cells, for the maintenance of their functions.

In addition, taurine, as a derivative of methionine and cysteine, stimulates both the formation of keratin, an important structural protein of the skin, hair and nails, and the synthesis of collagen, with consequent benefits for the skin, such as elasticity. It is involved in keratinocyte volume homeostasis and dermal hydration. It has a positive influence on glycogenic glycation and cell contraction.
