This formulation from the BCN Classics line, within the range of Mesoceuticals, is essentially a taurine solution: a cysteine-derived amino acid that is key in keratin synthesis and promotes the circulation of nutrients to the hair, facilitating the passage of sodium, potassium, and magnesium ions into the cells. It concentrates in the hair bulbs—where hair originates—preventing deformation, prolonging its lifespan, and stimulating its growth. When applied to the scalp, taurine reinforces hair mass while providing shine and volume, resulting in hair that grows thicker, healthier, and stronger. It also reduces excessive hair loss.

In addition, as a sulfur-containing amino acid, it possesses powerful antioxidant and detoxifying properties. When applied to the skin, it acts as a revitalizer, especially for tired and aged skin, as well as for skin of smokers or those exposed to pollutants.

Taurine is the only naturally occurring sulfonic acid known. It is referred to as a sulfonic amino acid due to its sulfur content, yet it does not belong to the group of 20 proteinogenic amino acids that generate structural proteins. Institute BCN’s Taurine works on two levels: on the scalp and on the skin. Its effectiveness in reinforcing hair mass and preventing hair loss is fully proven, as are its antioxidant properties, which revitalize the skin by neutralizing free radicals. It is indicated to limit hair loss and to revitalize especially tired, aged skin and skin that has been exposed to pollutants, tobacco smoke, and UV rays. Hair loss occurs at the hair follicle level as a response to chronic inflammation, which triggers fibrosis—a degenerative process that progressively reduces circulation and diminishes the hair bulb’s ability to defend against harmful substances or agents that could cause baldness by miniaturizing the follicle and replacing it with scar tissue. Taurine inhibits hair follicle fibrosis, preventing the hair from becoming thinner, weak, and brittle, thereby stopping hair loss. Additionally, it stimulates microcirculation, enhancing the delivery of nutrients to the hair and facilitating the passage of sodium, potassium, and magnesium ions into cells to maintain their functions.

Furthermore, taurine, as a derivative of methionine and cysteine, stimulates both the formation of keratin—a critical structural protein in the skin, hair, and nails—and collagen synthesis, yielding significant benefits for skin elasticity. It is involved in the homeostasis of keratinocyte volume and dermal hydration, has a positive influence on glycogenic glycation and cellular contraction, and promotes collagenogenesis by increasing the concentration of hydroxyproline in the skin. As a sulfur compound, its antioxidant properties support the body’s detoxification processes by protecting cell membranes from damage induced by UV radiation and free radicals, as well as by limiting degradation and inflammation of the epidermis, dermis, and the dermoepidermal junction.
