After the age of 35-40, there is a thickening of the stratum corneum of the epidermis (the outermost layer of our skin), while the dermis gradually thins. This happens because the supportive function of collagen gradually diminishes.

Collagen is the most important structural protein found in the support structures throughout our body. It is produced by fibroblasts, the fundamental cells of connective tissue that are also present among the various cells of the skin, forming a support network for the skin.

Photobiostimulation uses light to activate collagen synthesis, resulting in an anti-aging effect on the skin. It is an entirely natural process based on the fact that the cells in our body (including those in the skin) contain receptors that absorb light.

Depending on the wavelength of the absorbed light, specific biological response mechanisms are triggered, much like in plants during chlorophyll photosynthesis.
