OBSI stool: active sitting without a backrest

The saddle seat completely changes the way you sit. On a flat stool, the pelvis rotates backwards and the lumbar spine loses its natural curve, which is why you end up relying on a backrest. On a saddle seat, the legs rest in an open position and the pelvis remains neutral, so the lumbar lordosis is maintained naturally. You do not need a backrest because your spine is not collapsing.

Allow a few days to adjust

It is worth noting that a saddle seat may not feel comfortable on the first day. The pelvic floor muscles and adductors work differently, and it is normal to feel some tension during the first week. The usual recommendation is to begin with sessions of one or two hours and gradually increase the duration. After this adjustment period, most professionals do not go back to a flat stool.

If you want immediate comfort for very long sessions in the same position, the SUN with an ergonomic backrest is the safer choice. If you prefer the simplest option, the Opal is a flat, round stool with a 34 cm seat.

Maintenance

Wipe with a damp cloth and neutral detergent after each working day, and use a healthcare-grade surface disinfectant when required. Avoid high-concentration alcohol and abrasive products. Periodically check that the castors are secure and that the gas lift moves correctly.
